Starting in June 2024, I have been posting a so-called after-work soundtrack on my Instagram account (hashtag #youreditingsoundtrack): a song that I listen to at the end of a working day. It’s easy to let work dictate our daily routine, which is why I decided to ‘reward’ myself with a little treat at the end of every working day. Something that reminds me that there’s more to life than work and gives me something to look forward to. Happy hour aside!
Maybe it’ll inspire you, especially if your work-life balance is completely wrong. If that’s you, then take my advice: make room for things you LIKE to do, not HAVE to do. And yes, it can be as simple as listening to a song.
Usually I pick songs that spring to mind or pop up in online searches while editing a client’s work –maybe yours? I then post them as a reel on Instagram and list them below, along with the album title (if that’s what led me to the song) and sometimes a score.
It all began with HBO’s The Last of Us, which I devoured in a fit of binge-watching thanks to the moving story, the excellent acting and the awesome soundtrack. BTW, binge-watching is another great way to unwind after a hard day’s work!
